Study on the mechanism of rapid formation of ultra-thick tribofilm by CeO2 nano additive and ZDDP

Abstract CeO 2 nanoparticles are potential anti-wear additives because of their outstanding and load-bearing capacity. However, the shear-sintering tribo-film formation mechanism oxide limits rate thickness greatly. In this study, by compounding with zinc dioctyl dithiophosphate (ZDDP), ultra-fine modified oleylamine (OM) can quickly form µm ultra-thick tribo-film, which is 10–15 times thicker than that ZDDP , respectively. The presents a nanocomposite structure amorphous phosphate as binder nano-CeO filling phase, leads to highest loading capacity composite additives. results adsorption experiments tested dissipative quartz crystal microbalance (QCM-D) showed P B value additive has nothing do its equilibrium mass, but directly proportional in 10 s. compound presented co-deposition mode monolayer rigid viscoelastic on metal surface, It found must have high film forming wear resistance at same time order achieve super thickness.
